Parish Registers began in the s. They can be viewed at the Suffolk Record Office. There are Bishop Transcripts and Parish Registers that have been filmed for most parishes in the County. See the Suffolk Church Records article for further details. The Yorkshire Parish Register Society was founded in and became a publishing section of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society (now the Yorkshire Archaeological & Historical Society) in The aim of the Society was to transcribe and to produce annually at least one volume of an original parish register.
